We have what you need to get a garden started here in 2007 and get ready for 2008 or unique plants to bring character to your existing garden.
We are a resource for beginning gardeners and we're striving to be an essential hub for gardeners in the Twin Cities, especially the CARAG, EHFNA, ECCO and Lyndale neighborhoods of Minneapolis.
AnnualsWe're done with vegetables this year, but you can start a herb garden anytime - especially if you're willing to bring it indoors! We have partnered with Landscape Alternatives for a nice selection of native plants. Green Thumbs are so last year - the new trend is towards a Blue Thumb! Get your rain garden started and the birds, bees and butterflies will love you for the efforts at creating some habitat for them.
You can grow herbs indoors and we've got a huge selection for you to get a kitchen garden going right in your kitchen.
Native Garden
To live is to garden and we invite you to live it up in 2007!
We come from a Do-It-Yourself (DIY) perspective - folks develop a green thumb, they are not born with one. Keep the following in mind when planning your garden:
Climate: What grows well in your region? (Hint, ask your neighbors or stop into the co-op)
Space limitations: How extensive will your garden be?
Domestic habits: What would you like to eat from your garden?
Production levels: How many tomatoes do you really need?
Aesthetic desires: How would you like the space to look?
Soil amendment: Does your soil need an adjustment (fresh compost) to support veggies?
Let us know about your ideas and what you need!
